Description / Modern Penthouse Interior Design in Conegliano: A Complete Bespoke Project

This project in Conegliano concerns a new-build penthouse apartment of approximately 130 sqm, developed through a complete interior design approach and bespoke furniture planning.

The client involved us while the property was still under construction: a decisive stage, as it allowed us to intervene before walls, technical systems, lighting points and the internal layout were finalised. Our work went far beyond selecting furniture. It involved reading the floor plan, optimising the spaces, coordinating technical requirements with everyday functions and defining a coherent aesthetic identity throughout the home.

This is the same approach we explore in our guide dedicated to home furnishing and interior design planning: first we study how the home will be lived in, then we define spaces, furniture and technical systems.

The aim was to transform a new penthouse apartment, still based on a standard developer layout, into a truly bespoke home: more fluid in its circulation, more comfortable in daily use and more representative of the client’s personal taste.

Project details

  • Location: Conegliano (Treviso) - Veneto, Italy
  • Property type: new-build penthouse apartment
  • Surface area: approximately 130 sqm
  • Scope of work: complete interior design, floor plan optimisation, furniture planning, technical systems coordination and colour palette definition
  • Rooms designed: open-plan kitchen, dining and living area; furnished hallway; two children’s bedrooms; utility bathroom; guest bathroom; principal bedroom with walk-in wardrobe; concealed home office; en-suite bathroom
  • Style: contemporary, elegant, warm and personal
  • Distinctive elements: kitchen with island, flexible sofa, light grey walls, oak flooring, dark furniture, blue accents, a striking guest bathroom and a principal suite redesigned around the client’s lifestyle
  • Logistics: furniture handling to the eighth floor using the construction crane, with coordination between TopArredi, installers and site managers

The value of the design project

The heart of the intervention was the work carried out on the internal layout. The size of the penthouse remained unchanged, but the quality of the spaces improved significantly.

We focused in particular on the sleeping area, transforming generous yet not fully exploited rooms into concrete functions: a better-proportioned walk-in wardrobe, an enlarged en-suite bathroom and a concealed home office integrated into the principal bedroom.

This is one of the main differences between furnishing a home that has already been defined and designing it at the right moment. Being involved before the construction phase is completed helps avoid compromises, position technical systems and lighting points correctly, study the furniture in relation to daily habits and create a home that feels comfortable from the very first day.

From design to delivery: technical and logistical coordination

In this project, the value of the design work did not stop at the concept stage. The penthouse was located on the eighth floor and, when the furniture was delivered, the building was still under construction: the lift was not available, and every handling operation required precise organisation.

The construction crane was used to bring the furniture up to the apartment. Our architect Elia Marchioni coordinated the activities with the site managers, organising timing, access and handling methods to support the work of the installation team.

More than 20 sqm of furnishing elements were managed, divided into over one hundred packages. It was a complex operation, carefully supervised to protect the furniture, respect the conditions of the construction site and allow an orderly, efficient installation.

This type of coordination is an integral part of our service: in a complete interior design project, the final result does not depend only on the choice of products, but also on the ability to follow every phase, from the initial design to delivery and installation inside the home.

Living area: an elegant and sociable open-plan space

The living area was designed as a large open-plan space where the kitchen, dining table and lounge connect seamlessly. The kitchen with island faces the living area, creating a natural relationship between those cooking and those enjoying the rest of the home.

The dining table was positioned as a connecting element between kitchen and lounge, while the sofa without fixed backrests allows the space to be used in a freer and more dynamic way. Every element was planned around real use: distances, circulation, lighting points, sockets and technical connections were coordinated with the position of the furniture.

The result is an elegant, sociable and functional environment, designed to be lived in every day without compromising on aesthetic quality. To explore this topic further, you can read our guide on how to choose the right sofa.

Sleeping area: a private suite within the penthouse

The principal bedroom was designed as a true private suite. In addition to the sleeping area, we integrated a functional walk-in wardrobe, a concealed home office and a directly connected en-suite bathroom.

The working area was included discreetly: when not in use, it visually disappears and allows the room to retain its calm, private atmosphere.

In a sleeping area of this kind, the design is about balancing rest, storage, privacy and everyday functions. You can explore these themes further in our guide on how to furnish a bedroom.

The en-suite bathroom was enlarged and redesigned to improve the couple’s daily routine. The new furniture layout makes the room more comfortable, brighter and better proportioned than in the original plan.

Colour, materials and the identity of the home

One of the most distinctive choices in the project concerns the colour palette. In this penthouse, we avoided white as an automatic solution, choosing instead light grey walls to create a warmer, more elegant and enveloping backdrop.

The grey enhances the oak floor, allows the furniture to stand out more clearly and creates a neutral base that is never anonymous. We combined this foundation with dark furniture, blue details and softer tones in the bedrooms, achieving a balance between elegance, comfort and personality.

Colour is central to any interior design project because it influences perception, atmosphere and the quality of living. We explore this subject in our guide dedicated to colour psychology in the home.

The client’s artworks were also integrated into the project rather than added at the end. Their position, backgrounds and relationship with the furniture were studied carefully, turning them into an active part of the home’s visual story.

Bathrooms: functionality and character

The enlarged en-suite bathroom was redesigned to offer greater comfort, more usable space and a better experience in daily use. The new layout transformed an initially under-optimised room into an elegant, bright and well-proportioned space.

Those considering a similar project can read our guide on how to furnish a bathroom.

The guest bathroom, small and without natural light, was instead treated as a striking design feature. The targeted use of black on the ceiling and washbasin wall creates depth and character, while the lighter side walls preserve visual balance. The result is a compact yet memorable guest bathroom, capable of making a strong impression without losing elegance.
