Furniture project TA-12

Realisation of living room and lounge furniture with a minimal style for a cosy and modern open space.

Newly built house in the province of Pordenone.

Project realised for a married couple who wanted to complete the furnishing of the open space room where there was already a kitchen.

The project required a careful selection of colours so that the furniture could blend harmoniously with the existing kitchen. We started by proposing several collections of sofas with modern lines and reclining headrests. After viewing a couple of models with these features, we suggested that customers opt for a solution with high feet rather than a sofa with a peninsula and storage. Our suggestion was made because a lighter and more modern solution had more advantages than a storage solution in their context. The size of the sofa was dictated by the wall of the under staircase; we opted for a size that could leave the passageway free to continue to the upper floors, but at the same time that could mask the initial part of the staircase during moments of conviviality with friends. The choice of upholstery for the sofa was a matter of debate as the customers were afraid to 'dare too much' with the colour. In the end, we proposed a stain-resistant upholstery in a warm brownish colour with light and dark dots.

Next we designed the living room furniture, where the customers wanted to keep the wall as clean as possible and wanted to cover electrical sockets while keeping them accessible. We presented some proposals that reflected these characteristics by inserting geometries that could lighten the composition. In the end, the living room furniture chosen had drawer bases, a base unit with a flap door allowing access to the electrical sockets, and shelves forming an inverted C that completed the solution. Again, we gave some guidelines on the choice of colours by preparing mood boards to help with the final choice. The combination of the dark textured drawers with the elegance of the knotted oak wood essence was the perfect choice that made the whole environment coordinated and harmonious, making the open space warm and welcoming.
